🌟Community Update from Cuba Rushford Elementary🌟
Hello, Cuba Rushford staff, parents, and community members!
We’re excited to share some important updates regarding the upcoming Capital Project at our elementary school! If you’ve been by the school lately, you may have noticed some preparations for the work beginning in May.
🔧 Energy Project Starts – Week of May 4
Miller Construction Services will kick off site preparation and topsoil removal at the back athletic fields. Fencing will be put up in this area, and contractor trucks will primarily enter from Bull Street.
🛑 Asbestos Abatement Work Underway
As part of our capital improvements, we’re also performing asbestos abatement in designated areas. Rest assured, all necessary safety measures are in place, and the work is strictly regulated. Informational postings will be visible in our building to keep you informed.
🚸 Fencing and Student/Parent Travel
You’ll notice a fence around the first playground, but it will remain open throughout the project. Arrival and dismissal processes will stay the same, though we will have fencing in place to guide students to the correct areas.
🌐 Capital Project Website Coming Soon
A dedicated Capital Project website will launch by June, where you can access ongoing updates and resources.

On May 5, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM, we would like to invite you to celebrate the incredible work of our talented middle and high school students! From stunning visual art displays to live musical performances in a cozy coffee house atmosphere, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Dear Cuba-Rushford Parents and Community Members,
Due to ongoing work associated with our capital project, the District will designate Friday, May 22, 2026, as an emergency closure day. This change is necessary to allow for critical work related to our facilities, including the relocation of certain staff to areas outside of active construction zones.
In order to complete this work safely and efficiently, portions of the building and key systems will need to be accessed and, at times, taken offline, making it impractical to operate the school as usual.
While we recognize that changes to the calendar can be inconvenient, especially leading into the Memorial Day weekend, this work is essential to maintaining a safe and organized learning environment as our project progresses. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue to invest in the long-term infrastructure of our schools.
There will be no school for students on Friday, May 22, 2026. All after-school activities and events scheduled for that day will be canceled or rescheduled.
